New Beginnings at an End

So this semester has started out as a whirlwind! My boyfriend has moved to Austin to look for job opportunities with his degree and I'm in San Marcos rocking out the rest of my education in supergirl mode. I'm apartment/house hunting and working on my degree. Which is appropriate because I just landed an apprenticeship with this company! http://thesimplifiers.com/
So far it has been a blast and I can't wait to volunteer at more events! My schedule is insane because I'm taking 12 credit hours, I have three jobs and an apprenticeship! But its nothing I can't handle right?
I said I was going to do a photography challenge but with my recent schedule I have not had the time. The best way to keep up with my photography would be though instagram! (for iphone users) Its a great app that lets you edit your photos in fun ways and post them throughout the day.

Not a lot to say, so I'll leave you all with this thought:

30 Day Photography Challenge

So I decided to do this 30 Day challenge. Today I was lazy and just used photobooth to take my self portrait.



Its me, at my best, drinking wine. This wine was actually kind of terrible- but that's ok. HEB can't possibly be right about ALL of their wines. They have these little tags that have ratings and pairings on them, but this one lied. This was SO not a 9.5 in my book, but then again I'm just a college student, not a wine expert :)

Baby Addison

I had the amazing opportunity to photograph by wonderful friend's baby Addison Brooke. She was such a trooper and despite my lack of professional photography experience I think they turned out really well!





Addison was born premature at barely 30 weeks. She was only 1lb and 15 ounces and is now about 6 months and around 10 lbs! She's got a huge piece of my heart and I love her like she's my niece.

A YEAR went by!?

So what has happened in a year...
I moved back to San Marcos and am finishing up my last few semesters at Texas State. I started working for the Recreation Center on campus in sport clubs and I love it! I changed my degree (again) and am hoping to become an event planner when I graduate. I actually already planned my first event! My dear friend- or RoomieBFF as we call each other - is due in December with a beautiful baby girl! I was so happy to have planned her baby shower with our friend Abby. We had a lot of fun together and Bonnie was able to get TONS of necessities for baby Emma.

The theme was "There's a baby blooming" but with the nursery themed with Winnie the Pooh, I threw in a couple hints of everyone's favorite rumbly tumbly bear.

When I originally made this blog, I had assumed that I would be taking A LOT more photographs and writing a lot more about my life on a regular basis. So I'm here to announce, I made a photobucket for my photography portfolio! Whoo!

In other news, I begin working for Scarborough Elementary in their after school care program next week! I am so excited. I can't wait to meet all of my students and become a part of their lives. Short update, but hopefully things will start to get better and it will be easier to sound positive. I don't want to rant or have any negativity on here, and its certainly been circling. I can't wait to have more good things happen.

Nanny Life

Five summers ago I went home crying every day my first week of work. I wasn't sure if kids were my calling. I couldn't figure out why Debbie hired me. Five summers later, I'm crying at 8am because I don't know what I will do without these little hearts telling me "Good Night Ashwee".

Nanny Observations.

So there are many women I encounter as a nanny that I am in awe of. Single moms, women with several children, women who have overcome obstacles that show me that in the future I will be capable of the role of mother, wife, and matriarch.

There is mom 1. Neighbor who's husband left her with nothing. Well actually, with two children and a whole life to reorganize. Her story made me analyze how people fall out of love. The internal turmoil that a man must struggle with to pack in the middle of the night and be gone the next morning. I hope I never force a man to leave me like that. However, she is magnificently optimistic and full of energy. She has a beautiful home and her 16 year old has a brand new civic in the drive way. Win single mom.

Mom 2. Family friend who lost her mom to suicide as a young adult. I can't imagine my life without my mother, and the struggle she must have had to raise babies, plan Thanksgiving and Christmas without her matriarch to guide her through diaper changes and gravy recipes. I hope someday I am strong enough to be without my mother, but I pray it isn't before she kisses my newborn children and spoils them rotten. Or perhaps before she teaches me how to make her to die for apple pie.

I think about my current role as a college student and the labels it comes with. I am nanny, sister, daughter, friend, comedian, lover, dancer, and photographer.

These labels make me who I am currently but someday my roles in my career and relationships will mold me to be someone else. I have to realize that my feeling of stagnation with waiting to move is a misunderstanding, and I am actually forever molding.
